One car was reported being black and green and the other as being yellow with no other information provided. The subjects then entered their cars respectively and drove from the area. The male commented that it was hot outside and the boys can sit in the air conditioned car if they need to cool off. The male subject along with another male subject appeared to have exited from the Swatara Creek area and walked to their parked vehicles on the nearby street when one male spoke to the children as he stood by his car on the street. On Wednesday, August 24th a report was made to the Derry Township Police Department about an adult male subject speaking to a 9 and 11 year old boy sitting on a porch outside a residence in the Deer Run development with their dog. After interviewing the male subject, indications are the comments were not meant to entice nor abduct the two juveniles and the context of the conversation was misinterpreted. He contacted our department after he was made aware of our initial posting. ***Update**** Our department was able to talk with the male subject who conversed with the two juveniles. The Derry Township Police Department wants to remind residents to stay vigilant and keep your vehicles locked during the overnight hours and do not leave any valuables in plain view. Our department will NOT have access to your system, but it will let us know if there are active video surveillance systems in the area where a crime is committed. All residents are encouraged to register your exterior video surveillance systems with DTPD on our Crimewatch site at. The Derry Township Police Department asks any residents with surveillance cameras in the area of the thefts, to check for any suspicious activity or persons on their property and report it to DTPD. The vehicle stolen is a 2017 gray Toyota RAV4, Pennsylvania registration plate LLH4974. It is believed the actor(s) fled east on McCorkel Rd to SR743. The actor(s) entered unlocked vehicles and stole items to include wallets, money, credit cards, and other miscellaneous items. On during the early morning hours, numerous vehicles were entered, and one vehicle was stolen in the Jacobs Creek Development in Derry Township.
